How to Get to Kawa Kawa Falls in Sta Cruz Marinduque

Going to Kawa Kawa Falls:

There is no entrance fee and it is open to public. From the town of Sta. Cruz there are jeepneys or tricycles could be taken to Kawa Kawa Falls from the market in the town proper of Sta. Cruz you can take a tricyle or jeepney going to the highway of Barangay Bangkuangan, from there you can take habal habal which cost you 50 pesos more or less. Looks very mysterious and remote to me. I guess it was only 5 to 7 feet in height. But nevertheless, it has several pools where you can swim.

Kawa Kawa Falls in Sta Cruz Marinduque

It is an ideal place for picnic and camping. A great place to relax and enjoy during weekends. Located at Barangay Bangcuangan Santa Cruz, Marinduque, about 1 hour away from the town of Sta. Cruz. The base of the Kawa-Kawa Falls forms a small pool that resembles a big pan, or locally known as “kawali” from which the waterfalls got its name. Hehehe! The water is so cold and its so relaxing, covering with trees and plants within the area. This falls is one of the popular place in the town of Sta. Cruz. There are many mini-waterfalls in the area, some very accessible, some needs short climbs and it is very slippery. My short trip in the Island of Marinduque was ended, it is very fulfilling and remembering.

It is approximately an hour and a half by jeepney from the town of Boac. From Boac, take a jeepney to Sta. Cruz. From there, take another jeepney to Brgy. Ipil. Visiting Bathala Cave in Sta Cruz Marinduque

My friends and I decided to celebrate Easter Sunday (April 8,2012) in Bathala Cave which are located in Barangay Ipil, Santa Cruz, Marinduque and about 30-45 minutes travel from the town of Sta. Cruz. It is one of the most must-try when you visit Sta Cruz in Marinduque. We bought foods, drinks at Sta. Cruz Market, one of the busy market in the town. In province there are some mining activities in the area but Bathala Cave remains one of the last few sanctuaries for wildlife and protected area according to the local goverment of Marinduque.

Sta Cruz Church in Marinduque

Marinduque has a two old church, one in Boac and one in Sta. Cruz. Some say this town was called Sta. Cruz in Marinduque because of the Holy Cross brought by Magellan in Cebu. Others believe the legend that Sta. Cruz got its name from an apparition of a cross that guided the early missionaries to a safe landing place during a thunderstorm on one of their visits in the area where they erected a wooden cross on the mountain where Sta. Cruz Church now stands. A famous Marinduque pasalubong - uraro cookies are made from arrowroot, a tuber. The municipality of Sta. Cruz, known as the “Seafood Capital of Marinduque,” celebrated its annual Seafoods Fiesta from May 1 to May 3 as thanksgiving for the abundance of its aquatic resources. It is the only fiesta in the province which lasts for three days.

Moriones Festival 2012 Photos in Sta. Cruz Marinduque

Sta. Cruz is a neighboring province's version of Moriones Festival. Meron din silang version nito! This year, aside from the usual tradition,  there was a “Battle of Morions”. This was conceptualized last 2011, by now Congressman Lord Allan Velasco. For costumes, participants this year have been encouraged to incorporate local materials that are commonly used or are unique to their localities. It has been noted that while many participants still use wooden masks, masks made of papier-mache are extensively used for the Battle of Morions competition.

Best White Beach in Marinduque: Poctoy White Beach Resort,Torrijos

Traveling to the island province of Marinduque during the Holy Week was a test of patience. But rewards are abound. The stretch of white sand beach of Poctoy is proof to that. The privacy of a beach cove was perfect for sleeping right at the shore. The one-kilometer long, fine white sands of Poctoy White Beach is probably one of the best and frequented beaches in Marinduque.

Sunset View at Poctoy White Beach in Marinduque

I like seeing sunset at the beach .Poctoy White Beach Resort is perfect for this summer 2012. It is in Torrijos Marinduque, 31 kilometers from the town of Buenavista. That's about 1.5 hours away from Buenavista. A stretch of white sand beach, this resort is one of the most frequented beaches in the province. Going to Marinduque is usually commenced by a bus ride to Lucena. From there, you can board a ferry to either Sta. Cruz or Mogpog towns. Within the island, tricycles, jeeps, and vans ply inter-town routes, but be advised that places are faraway from each other, and transpo costs are quite significant.

Hidden Lagoon in Poctoy White Beach,Torrijos Marinduque

I was surprised of the Hidden Lagoon located at the end point of Poctoy White Beach Resort. So I decided to check out the area were people come and go. It has a white fine sand and rocky limestone formation. At the center it has a swimming pool like lagoon which people can enjoy. Torrijos waters is clean but there's sea grass in its waters, which may bother other swimmers but it is a favorite swimming and picnic area on this side of the province. One can have a very good view of Mt. Malindig on the south. Some of the private resorts owned by many Europeans are located here due to very nice secluded white sand beaches.

How to Get to Bellarocca Island Resort in Buenavista Marinduque

Marinduque is a quiet town so I plan to explore the island last April 5-8, 2012. Only Zest Air offers flight to Marinduque four times a week and You can take a RoRo going to Marinduque via Cawit or Balanacan port from Lucena Port (Dalahican Port). Please visit their website for additional information and pictures of the resort (http://bellaroccaresorts.com/index.php?file=kop1.php). If you have further questions, feel free to send an email at info@bellaroccaresorts.com.

A Perfect View of Bellarocca Island Resort in Marinduque

Wow! That's what people say when entering the gate of Bellarocca which is opened its doors to the public last February 2009 and full operations last January 2012. Located at Barangay Tungib, Lipata Buenavista Marinduque about 30 minutes away from the twon. This small island is perhaps similar to all other islands off the coastline of Marinduque. Each island are similarly hugged by the calm sea and highlighted by the blue sky. Fresh sea breeze and  in front of the island stands the majestic Mount Malindig. As my research Bellarocca is a resort full of contrasts. “Bella” is Italian (or Greek?) for beautiful, “rocca” is rock. This small, green island off the edge of Marinduque (Philippines) is home to white-walled architecture inspired by Santorini (Greece).
