HOW TO GET GUIMARAS ISLAND VIA ILOILO CITY
From Iloilo City, we took a metered taxi to Ortiz Wharf. As we went out of the airport arrival area, we asked the security guard where we could get a metered taxi. he pointed us to the desks of taxi companies at the right side. We learned only later on that they were booking agents for the metered taxi. We were told that we would pay the amount registered on the meter PLUS P50. (I presumed the additional amount is the booking fee. We were surprised but since it was still dark when we arrived, we didn't bother to find out where we could get a metered taxi without additional booking fee.) We were asked where our destination is, then a staff escorted us to the taxi. We were given a small piece of paper indicating the taxi's plate number and the name of the driver, and contact numbers in case we'd want to complain or give feedback.
From Iloilo Airport, the meter registered P202 when we reached Ortiz Wharf so we paid P252, booking fee included. Travel time was about 20 minutes since there was no traffic early in the morning.
At Ortiz Wharf, we were "swarmed" by men offering chartered boats to Guimaras. We ignored them, and bought tickets from a ticketing booth nearby. Pumpboat ride cost us only P13/pax. Travel time was only 15 minutes. If you want to charter a pumpboat, it shouldn't cost you more than P450. Some men offered us an unbelievable price of P1,500.
I gathered that the first boat trip is always at 6:00Am; thereafter, boats leave every 15 minutes.
